People who are living with mild depression and anxiety are starting to turn to immersion in outdoor green spaces as a natural soothing and mood boosting tool. In fact, as part of its post pandemic recovery plan, the UK government has just invested £4 million into ‘green prescribing’. Health programmes that encourage patients to get outside by connecting with conservation groups, taking in outdoor yoga classes, or simply strolling through the woods.
We think prescribing green space is more important than ever, and we’re launching Wild Walks as a way to increase access and options to those who need to get outside and would highly benefit from connecting with people in the same boat.
The Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, or ‘forest bathing’, has plenty of proven mental and physical health benefits. Staying true to our ‘nature is for everyone’ approach, we will be hosting a series of Wild Walks, which incorporate forest bathing and light nature immersion from our expert volunteers along the way.
Join one of our Wild Walks if you are one of the many living with with anxiety, the uncertainty and change at present, or if you’re looking for a creative way to get outside and chat to your neighbours.
