"At Intelligent Health we understand the importance of getting whole communities moving and are delighted to see the plans for ‘Wild Town’ in Reading .This summer, we encouraged 15,000 residents to play our ‘Beat the Street’ game; a physical activity challenge which turns a whole area into a ‘playable city’. Adults and children joined in and travelled around the town visiting parks and green spaces as well as using active travel to school and work. The success of the project (the town walked to the moon and raised the number of adults reaching the government guidelines for physical activity from 35-45%) showed the importance of taking a creative approach to improving modern lifestyles and how simple changes to habits can make a huge difference. The Wild Town concept created by Nature Nurture is a perfect example of using urban spaces to get the community active, address health inequities and simply enjoy their town. Reading is full of green parks, river and canal-side routes and we know people are looking for ways to get out and about and enjoy them. We look forward to working with Nature Nurture in partnership with the council, local NHS and all our partners to make Reading an active, healthy fun place to live". Dr. William Bird.
